The Midwest Vipers opened the home slate of the 2019 MA8FL season with a loss to the defending champion Muscatine RiverHawks 46-6.

It was a two score game at halftime after Muscatine scored two touchdowns and recorded a safety. The Muscatine defense was stout all day, and held the Vipers offense in check. The RiverHawks offense started the day slowly, but exploded in the second half to pull away with the victory.
At the break Muscatine was up 16-0, but came out firing in the second half. After they scored on their first possession of the second half, Muscatine forced a turnover and took advantage extending the lead.
The Vipers ran a kickoff back for a touchdown to gain some momentum, but it was quickly squashed by a suffocating RiverHawks defense. The RiverHawks added a couple more scores before time ran out.
The Vipers head to Pawnee, Illinois to take on the Sangamon County Outlaws (2-0) looking for their first win of the 2019 season. Game time is set for 2 PM at Pawnee High School.
